Conway Baxter Wilson LLP is pleased to announce that Thomas G. Conway will receive a degree of doctor of laws, honoris causa (LL.D.) from the Law Society of Upper Canada at its call to the bar ceremony on Friday, June 23, 2017.
The Law Society grants honorary degrees in recognition of outstanding achievements in service and benefits to the legal profession, the rule of law or the cause of justice. In a statement, the Law Society said that Mr. Conway “is recognized as a highly respected and dedicated lawyer within the legal profession. His exceptional advocacy skills have established him as a prominent litigation lawyer in Canada”. As a recipient of the honorary degree, Mr. Conway will also be giving the keynote address to the over 250 new lawyers attending the ceremony.
A former Treasurer of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Mr. Conway has been a leading Ottawa litigator for over 25 years. Mr. Conway has served as the President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada and as president of the County of Carleton Law Association, in addition to having served as an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa.
